Description

Named the saddle butterflyfish because the black patch on the upper rear quadrant of its body resembles a saddle, this diurnal, omnivorous species requires a varied, vitamin-rich diet that includes coral polyps, fish eggs and algae. These fish tend to form monogamous, lifelong pairs.
