This castle was plucked from my imagination. I began with the colour scheme: I wanted to use something outside the norm of beige and grey. My idea was that the castle exists in an alternate universe where natural rock is available in pink and purple tones. It’s also a place where there is no war, hence why the main gate is so open and welcoming, with bright flowering trees at the entrance. There are even canopies on each side where people can take shelter from the rain. The castle would be useless in a defensive situation! It’s therefore somewhere I imagine Unikitty from the LEGO movies would like to live.

It’s called Candyfloss Castle principally because of the colour scheme, but also because of the candyfloss/beehive part in the centre of the model. This is conceived as a central fountain which doubles up as a pool for residents and visitors to the castle. The water feature and arches were inspired by Moorish architecture as found in southern Spain. There’s also a Romanesque element to the design in terms of the inner courtyard and two towers at the rear, as well as Gothic-style swirls and spires at the front.
