Description

Special occasions call for special vehicles. This is why the infamous Olsen Gang availed themselves of a stolen Citroën HY in their third film. A treasure hunt in Jutland requires a spacious utility vehicle. On the one hand, for everything you need on a long journey; on the other hand, for the anticipated hefty loot. But of course, things turned out differently than planned.

The French van was not to blame for any planning or execution mistakes by the thieving trio. The Citroën HY was a solid and reliable vehicle and also the most widely used van in France. It rolled off the assembly line for 30 years (namely, from 1948 to 1981) in different variants.

The HY’s huge popularity, at least in its native land, did not prevent its countrymen from affectionately calling it ‘pig nose’. Another quite apt nickname was ‘box-on-wheels’. Genealogists, however, claim to have found a striking resemblance to Darth Vader from Star Wars.
