Description
The koala is not a bear but a marsupial. He lives predominantly in trees and is the most well-known animal in Australia after the kangaroo. In terms of adorableness, his knobbly nose takes the lead. However, this has not been able to protect him for a long time. Koalas were easy prey for the first settlers of Australia.
Nowadays, koalas are protected as much as possible, but their habitat – like that of many other wild animal species – is shrinking steadily. In addition, they are nutritionally dependent on eucalyptus, which does not grow everywhere. Eucalyptus is highly toxic to other species. But the peaceful koala, who rests for 20 hours every day (longer than a sloth), copes well with this food.
