Description
The bare-nosed wombat is a marsupial with a hairless muzzle and round ears. He feels at home in southeast Australia, where the climate is temperate and there is enough water. In addition, he prefers slopes for digging burrows and grasses for eating and padding his burrows.
The wombat is usually peaceful, but not very sociable. He prefers to inhabit his cosy burrow alone. Should an unwanted companion approach, he immediately smells the intruder and drives him away with angry snarls and grunts. The entire wombat population is estimated at around one million. These cute and harmless animals are also a protected species across Australia, except in Victoria.
