As elegantly as he may move in the air, it is difficult for this king of the skies and the coast to take off and land.

Most of the 21 species of albatross live in and around the Southern Ocean. With a wingspan of up to approximately four metres, the black and white or brown and white seabird outperforms any other type of bird today.

Albatrosses often follow ships, but not so much because they like humans. Rather, the birds, who weigh up to twelve kilograms, like to use the updraught to stay in the air for longer periods with less effort required.
